Domtar’s industry leading sustainability website, The Paper Trail, was designed and developed by Squires & Company and is now on its second variation. The site just received a language upgrade which makes the full site experience available in French. While this may seem like a subtle upgrade to the users, it represents major development under the hood. Since the site actively calculates the impact of a user’s paper order, our developers leveraged a Javascript library called Numbro, which converts English currency strings to French, to alleviate the need to reprogram the complex math equations that handle the site’s paper conversions. Polylang, a WordPress’ plug-in, allowed the team to plug in all of the translations directly into the theme so that appears accurately when displayed on the website.
