Squires Concept Wins the DSVC Golden Trashcan Award
Every year the Dallas Society of Communications hosts the Dallas Show, an awards dinner that recognizes the best design work in our region. This year, Squires & Company was honored to have four pieces in the show including, Concho Resources 2014 Annual Report, the DSVC Erin Sarofsky Event Poster, the Domtar Share on Cougar® promotional brochure, and a concept we submitted that was not selected for Domtar’s latest promotion entitled Creativity Starts on Cougar®. The concept, designed by Michael Beukema, was meant to engage paper specifiers, designers, and printers, to rethink how they approach their own creative process. The piece itself was designed to be a journal or sketchbook that provided inspirational activities to ignite the viewer’s creative side using eclectic imagery and illustration. The exercises in the piece could include things like creating a beautiful color palette from your own photography, or creating a typeface from hand-drawn characters. The piece would have been a reminder that thoughtful work always begins on paper and Cougar is a paper that can inspire your most creative ideas. The concept was selected by a panel of elite judges as the only Golden Trashcan award of the night. The award recognizes the best professional work that was not selected or produced by the client. The piece that was selected, Make Your Mark on Cougar®, will be a featured case study shortly on our website. Wait until you see it…
