Yumblebee is a social app/website that is aimed at foodies who want to locate a specific type of dish at a restaurant in their immediate proximity. Equal parts a graphic design and web development challenge, Squires & Company embarked on a year-long process to design and develop its first mobile app. The design and development teams at Squires worked in tandem with the Yumblebee team to create a fun and engaging community and experience that would help users discover new foods and restaurants.



A name like Yumblebee deserves an equally fun and playful logo design that combines the social aspects of the app into something immediate and iconic. The resulting mark is charming and distills the personality of the brand instantly and endearingly.

The website/app experience involved creating a robust database of restaurants and menu items that could be accessed quickly and intuitively. To do this, the site and app were both wireframed extensively ensuring that the experience would be easy to navigate and that the mobile and desktop experience would complement and augment one another.



On November 19, 2013, the Yumblebee app hit the Apple App store and the public beta went live online. A few weeks later, an Android version was released on Google Play. For Squires & Company, this marks a development first and a tangible introduction of an exciting new capability. The Yumblebee brand has subsequently been recognized locally and nationally by prestigious publications like Graphis, Print and Communication Arts magazine.
